CRITICAL REVIEW


Architect Grigore Ionescu was born in 1904, in Prahova county. He attended the Academy of Architecture in Bucharest, and the Romanian School in Rome, where he had secured a scholarship. He focused on the history of architecture and national Romanian heritage. Grigore Ionescu is an important architectural historian, authoring numerous architectural works, and a member of the Romanian Academy since 1992. In 1937, he published Istoria Arhitecturii Românești, the first work of its kind in Romania.
