CRITICAL REVIEW

Throughout his career, Niels Auner contributed to the restoration of over 100 wooden churches, classified as historic monuments. Most of the wooden churches he worked on are located in Sălaj and Maramureş counties. In 2012, architect Niels Auner published the book 100 de biserici de lemn restaurate, 1972-2012, and in 2016 he published a series of written materials, including drawings and photography, under the title Proiecte şi realizări. Restaurări de monumente istorice şi construcţii noi cu structuri din lemn, 1972-2015. He carried out his restoration projects together with craftsmen in Maramureş, painting restorers, and architectural conservationists. Currently, he publishes articles in the journal of the National Union of Restorers of Historic Monuments.
